Our Tracht
The costues we wear are known as Tracht.
The word "Tracht" comes from the verb "tragen" (to carry or wear); thus the derived noun "Tracht" means "what is worn". We have two types of Tracht - our more formal, which we refer to as Festtracht and our more casual dirndls and lederhosn we wear when we are performing. Each type is worn by both our adults and our children's group (Kindergruppe).
Our Festtracht is styled after the Allgauer Tracht, which means that it is the style that is worn in the Allgau region of Bavaria, Germany. The time-honored tracht has survived for many generations, untouched by costume trends, and stands for tradition, values and craftsmanship. The majority of our costumes is handmade by our own club seamstresses or through specialty shops in Germany and the US specializing in Bavarian clothing.
